millions of dust mites in a baby mattress

The Pure Zees Anti-Dust Mite Method is Healthier, Safer, and Better

We have been asked on occasions what is the difference between the Pure Zees Anti-dust mite baby mattress and others?

Answer! – We don’t use chemicals to deal with the issue. Chemicals do not solve the problem. The dust mite itself is not the allergen but rather the poo it leaves behind. The chemicals used may indeed kill the dust mite but have no effect on the fecal pellets they leave behind which become the allergen. Neither do the chemicals deal with the problem of the other most common allergens – pet dander, dust, pollen, nor the dust mite food which is dried skin flakes. The chemicals will also get diluted with wet accidents and they will lose their efficiency over time.

Besides all of that - the fact that more chemicals are being added to a baby mattress when there are already too many used in the first place e.g. flame retardants, should make you very concerned. If a chemical kills a microscopic dust mite, I would also ask what else microscopic can that chemical affect? Maybe something microscopically good and beneficial in our baby's body? I don't see the risk being worth it by using anti-dustmite chemicals especially when their is a perfectly effective and healthier way of doing it.

The Pure Zees way – We use a non-chemical and safer permanent physical barrier method to prevent the dust mites getting into the mattress in the first place. The barrier is a wipeable surface that can be eradicated of the dust mite and its poo, along with the other allergens – pet dander, dust, pollen, and their food - the dried skin, when done as part of an easy peasy regular care regime. The real evidence that our way works is that we have the AAFA certification to say we are tested & proven to be better suited for those with asthma and allergy concerns, and a dust mite control test program is a big part of the certification.
